Slash (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Slash tax strategy calculator at slash-tax.app (the “Service”). Slash is an invite-only application for authorized sales professionals to model tax strategies for their clients, save scenario history, and export reports.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google or another method we offer, we receive basic profile information from the identity provider, including:
- Your name
- Email address
- Profile picture
We use this information solely to create and manage your user account in the Service. Access is by invitation only.
Client inputs, calculations, and reports
You may enter financial and tax-profile information about a client in order to run the calculator, recommendations, and reports. That can include filing status, state of residence, income figures, and strategy-specific inputs. We store the scenarios, calculation results, and history you create so you can reopen them later and generate PDFs.
We do not collect this information directly from your clients. You are responsible for having the authority to enter any client information you submit to the Service.
PDF branding
If you add white-label branding, we store the firm or representative name and logo you upload so they can appear on client-facing PDF reports.
Support requests
If you submit a request through Support in the app, we collect the category, subject, and message you enter, and we associate them with your account. We use this to respond to bugs, feature suggestions, calculation questions, and other requests about the Service.
Technical information
We may collect standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and device information for security, debugging, and improving the Service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Authenticate you and manage your account
- Provide the tax strategy calculator, recommendations, history, and related features
- Save and display your past calculations and reports
- Apply the PDF branding you configure
- Receive and respond to Support requests
- Maintain the security and integrity of the Service
- Communicate with you about your account or important service updates
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train third-party advertising or AI models.
4. Google User Data
When you choose to sign in with Google, we receive only the basic profile information described above: name, email address, and profile picture. We request this so we can create and manage your Slash account.
We use Google user data exclusively to:
- Identify you when you sign in
- Create and maintain your Slash user record
- Display your name and avatar inside the Service
We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not share it with third parties except as needed to operate authentication through Clerk. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
6. Data Storage and Security
Authentication is handled by Clerk. Application data, including account records, client scenarios, calculation history, PDF branding, and Support requests, is stored in our database. The Service is hosted on Railway.
We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction of your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account information, branding, calculation history, and Support requests for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data through Support. We may retain limited records if we are required to do so by law or to resolve disputes.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
To exercise these rights, submit a request through Support. You must be signed in. We will respond within a reasonable time.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, tell us through Support and we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the revised policy.
